3D ski map of the Alps

The Alps from Nice to Salzburg in 3D: 10 m terrain for Switzerland, Austria, France and Italy, 2 m on demand in Switzerland, Austria and France, 30 m in the gaps. Lifts and pistes on the terrain, slope angle, aspect, contour lines, sun and shadow for any time, and today's avalanche danger drawn on the slopes.

A topographic map shows a slope as contour lines. Convex rolls, terrain traps and gullies are easy to miss that way, and so is the direction a slope faces. In 3D you see the mountain the way you will see it from the lift or the skin track, and you can look at the same face from below, from the side and from above.

Terrain at 10 m, and 2 m when you zoom in

The map is built from 10 m terrain for Switzerland, Austria, France and Italy, with 30 m Copernicus data in the remaining gaps. Zoom in over Switzerland, Austria or France and a button loads 2 m terrain, so short steep steps and rolls show up. Rotate, tilt and zoom to look at a face from the angle that matters for your line; contour lines and a winter relief base map with a snow-line slider are there when you want them.

Slope angle, aspect, sun and today's danger

Switch on slope angle (25° to over 45°), aspect or elevation, set the sun to any date and time to see which faces are lit, and draw today's or tomorrow's avalanche danger from the European warning services on the slopes. For an area you can run a SLABS avalanche terrain analysis with today's conditions.

Lifts and pistes on the same map

Lifts and marked pistes are drawn on the terrain, so you can see which lift gets you to the top of a line and where the line comes out.

How it works

  1. 01Open the map

Go to a resort, peak or valley in the Alps.

  2. 02Turn the terrain

Rotate and tilt the 3D view to look at a face from different sides.

  3. 03Add layers

Switch on slope angle, aspect or elevation, or run a SLABS analysis for an area with today's conditions.

Who builds BEYOND

BEYOND is built by Luuk van der Poel and Ziggy Triou, two backcountry snowboarders. It started as the map they wanted for their own days in the Alps after FATMAP shut down.
