Terms of service
The rules for using the map and this website. The part that matters most is section 4: the map is information, and the decisions on the mountain are yours.
1. Acceptance
By using BEYOND Maps (the map and the website beyondmaps.app, together "the Service") you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. The Service is made by GoBeyond, a company in the Netherlands ("we").
2. What the Service is
BEYOND Maps is a 3D map of the Alps for off-piste skiing, snowboarding and ski touring, in the browser. It shows terrain, lifts and pistes, slope angle, aspect, sun and shadow, snow and weather data, the official avalanche bulletins, a SLABS avalanche terrain analysis and your own routes, as information. This website adds bulletin pages per region and guides.
3. Early access
The Service is in early access and free. By using it you accept that:
- it can contain errors and can be unavailable;
- features change or disappear without notice;
- data from third parties can be late, incomplete or wrong;
- we keep building it, and this page changes with it.
4. The map is information, not advice
The map shows terrain and the official forecast as information. It does not recommend lines and it does not rate slopes. The avalanche bulletin on the map is the warning service's forecast for a region, not an assessment of your slope. SLABS is a statistical model of where skiers trigger slab avalanches; it has no runout model and does not see the snowpack under you. Slope angle comes from an elevation model and can miss cornices, small steps and changes since the data was collected.
You decide where you go, and you carry the consequences. Using the Service you accept that you are responsible for:
- your own avalanche training and experience, and that of your group;
- your equipment, including transceiver, shovel and probe;
- reading the full official bulletin at its source before you go;
- checking the conditions on the mountain and turning around when they say so;
- knowing that off-piste skiing and ski touring can injure or kill you, with or without a map.
5. Your account
The map asks you to create a free account. You are responsible for keeping your login to yourself, for what happens under your account, for giving us a working e-mail address, and for telling us if someone else gets in.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for anything illegal;
- try to get into our systems or disturb the Service;
- scrape or harvest data from the Service;
- reverse-engineer or copy parts of the Service;
- resell or redistribute the Service without our written permission.
7. Data sources and third-party content

We are not responsible for the accuracy or availability of this data, and the providers are not responsible for the Service.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, its design and its own content belong to GoBeyond. The SLABS method belongs to its authors, the data to its providers. You may not copy, change or distribute our work without our written permission. Routes you draw are yours.
9. Pilots with ski resorts
For ski areas and tourism boards we build 3D maps of their area for their own website. What we build, what the resort pays, which data it supplies, what the map may show and who approves the wording are agreed in writing per resort, and that agreement goes before these terms where the two differ. The resort stays responsible for its official objects and their wording; we show them as supplied. The disclaimer in section 4 applies to a resort map as it applies to the map itself.
10. Liability
To the extent the law allows:
- the Service is provided as it is, without warranties;
- we are not liable for injury, accidents or damage that follow from using the Service, or from relying on information in it;
- we are not liable for wrong or missing data or for interruptions;
- our total liability is limited to what you paid for the Service, which for the map is nothing.
11. Indemnification
You will compensate GoBeyond and the people who work on BEYOND for claims, damage or costs that arise from your use of the Service or from breaking these terms.
12. Changes and termination
We can change, pause or stop the Service at any time, and we can update these terms; the current version with its date is on this page. We can end or suspend your account without notice if you break these terms.
13. Law
Dutch law applies. Disputes go to the courts of the Netherlands.
14. Contact
By using BEYOND Maps you confirm that you have read these terms and agree to them.
